If you’re switching from iPhone to Android or just moving away from Apple, chances are that your phone number still remains attached to your device and previously there was no way to detach it. But, Apple has launched a new tool which allows you to ‘deregister’ your number in case you’re switching your phone.
A new tool launched by Apple last week will walk you through the steps of turning iMessages off entirely, and then removing your phone number from the iMessage database. The process is as simple as turning off the service, and then putting your phone number into a web form.
You may need to turn off iMessage if you are now using a non-Apple phone and can’t get SMS or text messages someone sends you from an iPhone, all you gotta do is to just head over to “Deregister iMessage tool” and follow the easy steps given there!
