Actually you aren't getting a backlink!
Check the source of this webpage and you would see that the tag used is "no-follow" – which instructs Google NOT to crawl your website.

I don't feel it will help much. Just searched for a keyword using it & found that the .edu link has nofollow added to the comments. So what's the use of searching & commenting when you aren't gonna get a thing ?

Well they do count to some extent but not as a backlink. It will not (or hardly) pass any seo juice.

That's a nice find. I couldn't get any dofollow .edu or .gov links, and from the other TLDs I found only a few PR2 and PR1, still worth a shot I think.

Now, Is it necessary to mention the incoming links to your blog?? I mean, do we need to have 2 way link i.e I get linked my a site and i link them back..is that thing called backlinking? or I simply link build link to my site from some other site, without mentioning them in my blog??
