Many of my blogging friends who own their blog ask me about my SEO methods and techniques i use to publicize and monetize my blog because these days my blog visits are going at a very healthy rate and i am also getting good amount of unique visitors as well as good comments and appreciation from all the places and all the visitors. So i here i am trying to share some of the SEO methods i use for my blog and i hope you all will like it !
Before i start my post, I would like to give some basic explanation about what SEO is all about if you are a newbie in this blogging world.
- SEO stands for search engine optimization.
- SEO helps you getting traffic from various search engines and having a good SEO for your site means to have more chances of getting higher rankings in search engines. Having higher rankings in search engines is very important as any of the internet user will surely select from only those which are available as some of those few top results.
- SEO optimization is important for your blog because it also helps your article indexed in search engines as quickly as possible. If you are a newbie, then you may face some problems while indexing your posts in these search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing. But by following some of the techniques i use, i am sure you would be able to increase your scope.
I don’t use any professional SEO service available on the net and neither i am a professional SEO. Even i was just a newbie almost 5 months ago when i started this blog on 1st January but the things are going well for my blog right now as i am getting a fair amount of traffic now after some hard work of 4 months. I am quickly listing down the methods and techniques i use.
Content Is King
Now after getting some experience in blogging field, I would surely agree and now I’m a firm believer of this point. The more article you write and the more you invite Google, Yahoo, Bing to accept your article. they’ll love your blog <3 . I would suggest you to write at least 4 articles for your blog if you are a newbie.
Social Bookmarking
social bookmarking helps you quickly indexing and popularise your site on the internet world. After writing a blog article, i submit them to social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, Stumbleupon, Reddit, Blogengage, Mixx, Dzone and all the other sites which i have as my bookmarking buttons at the end of this article. Apart from this, I also submit my site to social networking like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Site Directories
Site directories index your blog in their directory which helps you get a backlink and a good amount of traffic as well. I have submitted my site to many directories like Technorati etc. and some Indian blog directories too.
SEO Plugins
I use 4 SEO plugin which helps me to my SEO a bit. I list them below
First 3 plugins help me insert meta tags and keyword related to my blog niche and article content. The sitemap plugin helps me to submit my sitemap to Google, Yahoo and Bing
Keyword Research
This is one of the most important aspect of a blog SEO. A blog must have inserted some meta tags and keyword of their niche. I use Google Keyword tool to find related keywords of my blog niche and add them to Robots Meta plugin and headspace2 plugin. While writing an article, i find keywords related to my article and add it to the field given below the wordpress post editor.
Remember : Choosing wrong keywords may mislead the search engines and it will increase your bounce rate. So choose keywords wisely.
Sending Pings
After writing a blog post, i ping my feed burner and also use Pingomatic to ping all the listing services so that to make them alert about my new blog post.
What’s your Techniques ?
After applying all the above methods, i get listed in Google search in less than 2 minutes successfully every time i post new article and i have been getting a good amount of traffic now.
I would like to hear some of your methods and ways you keep your blog’s basic SEO up-to-date and would also like to have some suggestion about my SEO. I hope it will be good and helpful even to you.

I think you should do more, Bookmarkings and Directories bring backlinks, but does Google consider them anymore? I don’t think so, given the amount of manipulation going on there.
IMO, Guest Posting is the best and easiest way to build Backlinks and Backlinks is what matters.

yes thanks ! but i wouls say that some bookmarking and directories do give you a soft backlink though it is not considered by google but its important for other rankings and it surely gives you free traffic

Can I just suggest you consider removing the floating twitter and facebook share bar? It makes reading your content a bit difficult…

There's a plugin named SEO links , you can use that too,its good for SEO too .
Great tips. I second that content is king is important. A big portion of my traffic originate from search engines (which I believe is the most targeted FREE traffic possible).

I did not knew about headspace2, thanks, also I receive the most of my traffic from Google around 60% and social bookmarking and after the Content Social Bookmarking is King
