Hey everyone! This is my first guest post on this awesome blog. I come from India, btw, I am Sid from Indialoka and I love blogging. Simply put, Blogging is hot ‘n’ awesome! And I love every minute of it. It seems that everyone is jumping on the blogging bandwagon, in search of the mega-profits that some bloggers claim.
Some bloggers are making big mistakes. Call them newbie’s if you want to, but its a learning curve we all go through. But still I’d love to point out the top five blogging mistakes from a blogger:
1. One of the reasons blogs have become so popular is the personal touch and engaging with readers. The best blogs give readers a peek into the personal life of the blogger. The stories are interesting.
And one of the mistakes a blogger — even if it’s a “business” blogger — can make is to forget that personal touch. There’s a place on the website for catalogs, sales letters, comparisons, and FAQs. But the blog is the place for the STORY.
2. If a website is your online “store” and your banner is your “billboard”, then what is your blog? If you think it’s a glorified ad, brochure, or sales letter, you’re WRONG.
Think more on the lines of “infomercial”. For example, some infomercials promote juicers. We all know they’re selling the juicer. But there’s also the educational component where they tell us how good juices are for us. Some may even include recipe tips you can use even if you don’t buy the juicer.
3. “Monetizing” your blog can be profitable — if you do it right. But there is such a thing as too much advertising. By spreading the ads out among valuable content, your reader is more likely to notice the individual ads and click on them.
If the whole page is nothing but ads, “selective perception” kicks in and the reader won’t notice ANY of the ads. When you read a magazine, which ads do you notice? The ones that are on the pages with the content you’re reading? Or the multiple ad-only pages at the back of the book?
4. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is another danger zone. Some bloggers resort to ridiculous formulas in an attempt to take advantage of search engine algo’rhythms’. They’re afraid to try out traditional SEO tactics (even if it’s the topic of the article), and end up repeating/inserting the keywords where it doesn’t belong.
The bottom line is this: write quality, valuable content and the search engines will take care of themselves. Likewise, manage your time as a freelancer. Yes, the initial results may be based on a computerized keyword search. But initial results are reinforced by traffic — and quality content will bring the traffic over the long haul. Common sense, really!
5. Finally, have you done your housekeeping chores lately? There are websites where you can check page load times. If your blog is image-intensive, you may want to compress images for faster loading. Having two images per article is more than enough.
Don’t forget that some of your readers are still on dial-up, and a slow loading page may not be worth waiting for. One reason blogs are so popular in search results is that they are frequently updated.
But if your last post is dated “2005” — or even a few months ago — visitors will assume your site is abandoned. They have no reason to come back. No reason to bookmark the page or pass the link to a friend. If you’re going to be away for awhile, let readers know. Try to give them a reason to anticipate your return.
Did you find spot any mistakes on copypaste blog or in any of my article? Did you find this page loaded too slow ? Feel free to leave a word of appreciation and criticism, if any! Its a “Do-Follow” blog

Hahaha, I'm very interested. Especially point number 1!
People take 'blog' and a 'website' to be similar. I am not exactly sure as of what you're pointing at, but I believe you loved this post
Good post Indialoka but I do not totally agree with you, especially with the points in SEO. Doing SEO is as important as writing quality content, I think we should find the balance between them, it is the best strategy.
Right. But never pointed out 'not' to promote, tek3D. I was mostly stressing on content quality and its need on the website.
A guy was working on SEOing his site and was amazed to know that his brother rakes in more cash and traffic. And his bro had zero SEO knowledge. Why the high traffic? He was focused and more passionate on writing. Likewise, people loved his writing.
Point is — sometimes SEO is important, but content comes first. Quality content. After all internet was setup with the ultimate thoughts of sharing knowledge.
Appreciate your response.
Good one Sid
Many times you have to give some personal touch in your blog posts also to get
valuable feedback and repeated visitors.
When it comes to posting frequently , we have to be consistent and I am trying my level best to maintain
it by scheduling posts and also time management is very much important.
At last consider your blog as your mailbox where your mails or posts needs to be frequent or else there is no point of people reading your mailbox
Hi Sunil,
YES! Not all of us are into serious blogging. And for that, we have to devote and manage time. Likewise, post a lot of 'good' stuff.
I hope you will increase your frequency. Point is, and has always been, to write good number of articles that are helpful. I don't see any 'secret' here. The popular blogs out there are popular because of the content they produce
Even if we manage to get 10% of their traffic (not comparing them, but trying to stress on quality of content) we can easily make a living out of this 'passion'.
Liked this post. and its true that Not everyone can master the art of blogging but one an learn through such good articles.
Heh-heh. I am flattered, Rohit.
Will make sure to bring in top quality articles in the coming weeks.
Have a lot of stuffs to share
Thanks for passing by. Have a 'rocking' day!
I discovered the blog today and I liked it, quality post buddy..keep it up!
Nice post Sid! I agree with all your points, especially the personalization tip! There are so many blogs about similar topics that the majority values individuality and personal touch.
Hi Sid,
Great post. I am new to SEO and almost, I mean literally almost went into this mode of fast and easy SEO stuff. But after reading your post. it really made sense and going back to my basics. Write good content. Content makes the WWW go round and round. Thanks Bud.
i am fully agree with your view
thanks
Thanks for the article! It was good read, quality information here.
I think too many marketers are focused on the short term – the long term benefits of blogs are tremendous! You might as well take it seriously sooner rather than later…
Thanks
