I started blogging earlier this year just a total newbie and I remember how I used to surf across other blogs which provide blogging tips, SEO tips and other essential knowledge about blogging. I started blogging just for my passion and to do something different from what others do in their daily life. I went through many blogging tips and SEO tips but gradually, I am still not an expert but I learnt blogging a bit and still learning it. Here, I am listing and explaining those 5 common tips which now I disagree to. Do share your views on it and don’t forget to read the 5th point!
Motive behind my blogging is not just to earn money because I remember I started blogging just because of my passion to do something different from others. Now I can surely say that blogging is the best industry where you can work according to you and you’re the boss of your own! Below are those5 blogging tips given by many bloggers which I surely would like to question :
1. Guest Post
Recently, I was reading some articles about guest blogging and I had been through a page where some bloggers were discussing that guest post don’t bring traffic for you unless it is written on a very high-profile blog and I totally agree with it.
One more reason is to create backlinks for your blog. I would say, if you write these posts on your own blog rather than on other’s, you still will get backlinks if your contents are great. Moral : Don’t waste your precious and best words for someone else’s site.
2. Niche Blogging
You will find many blogs across the internet which are blogging with a single niche. But, if you take a close look to them then you will notice that niche blogging is for them who are having short-term goal of earning projects. If you are blogging for your passion then you should blog what interests you and not what the niche you select is forcing you to.
I agree, keyword research in niche blogging is required but if your researched keywords are highly competitive then you will not be benefited at all and your articles will go in vain. As I said earlier, I blog for passion and that is the reason why my blog is not focused on a single niche as you would notice if you browse my categories. Moral : Follow your heart!
3. Publish Daily
Sometimes, you will be amazed to visit a blog who has built up traffic from zero to thousands in few months of posting but if you become a regular visitor of that blog, you will notice a decrement in their article frequency and after few months, they will disappear. I often analyze the posting frequency of any blog I visit and do see this point in 80% of all the blog present in the industry.
Posting daily or twice a day is good if your only motive is to earn some few quick bucks but I would rather prefer to post at regular intervals then to post daily and stress myself if I am not comfortable with it. I see my blog as a long time venture and therefore I believe in quality over quantity and for my regular visitors that is much less than one post per day.
4. Advertise Your Blog
Personally, I always like to save money and use them wisely. You are already spending money on your domain registration and hosting but now, I don’t find any sense in advertising my blog via Google Adwords or Facebook Advertising or via any other means by which a blog can be made popular and even, getting a premium WordPress theme makes no sense to me as of now.
By advertising, there is no doubt that you will get quick traffic but gradually, it will start decreasing and you will be frustrated. If you are going for a premium wordpress theme then you are sure to stick with one theme for a longer time and you will even face some difficulties customizing it and its SEO settings as well. Premium wordpress theme requirement is minimal when there are thousands offree wordpress themes available for download.
5. Be Yourself!
Fine, this is the toughest tip to disagree with but I would like to explain this to you. In blogging world, being yourself doesn’t mean that you have to share your personal life every now and then if you are having a professional blog setup. People might not find interest in what you did a month ago or where have you been for your summer holidays or how did you break up!
I always take care that my blog posts are having personal touch but here, it means to be as if you are actually having a conversation with your readers and not sharing your life. Having a personal touch to your articles is important but being yourself all the time doesn’t make any sense. Moral : Control Yourself
Few More Words
There are many more advises given by different bloggers but you must choose what suits you the best because after all, its your blog and you’re the king! Above given reasons to the advises are only with best intentions. I have listed only those advises which in my opinion could be disagreed.
What about you? Do you agree with the above mentioned points? Do you have your own thoughts, advises to which you disagree? Do drop in your views

I choose to disagree with number 1. Guest posting is a great way to brand your blog. However, it is useful as long as you do not forget about the content in your blog of course.

you are right that guest post is used for branding but still again, even branding requires that guest post to be on a highly recognized blog
i agree with u

Hi Rahul, It's always interesting to hear different points of view about all the different advice floating around. I think what you are saying about not oversharing (point 5) makes a lot of sense. Share if it makes a point, don't share if it doesn't. How often to publish is tough and I think you make a good point here and if you bear that in mind as well as your concerns about niche blogging, I think you are trying to keep blogging something the person will be able to enjoy and keep doing for a long time to come. – Rob

You got that perfectly right, Rob. I never tool blogging as a work and I try to enjoy it as much as possible instead and points mentioned above are best suitable to me
I never had time for guest blogging but maybe someday I want to write guest post for Problogger, Shoemoney or even TechCrunch .

Great article Rahul. I think many bloggers today forget to just be their selves and get caught up trying to be someone else. Also I enjoyed your comment on guest blogging. I woudln't waste my time unless the blog get a certain amount of traffic to it.
I'm also a huge fan of advertising. Though I don't actually pay for it I still market and promote my blog a lot. I'm normally found in webmaster forums and commenting on other blogs. These two methods bring the most traffic I think.

I too see guest bloggers on very lesser known blogs ,that disgusting as the guest writer won't get much benefit in terms of backlinks or anything

Yes. I have hardly done guest post (3 to be precise) when I have written 150 articles for my own blog. So, I am not in a favor of guest blogging at all. Its not good to waste 400 words just to get couple of backlinks.
Better to keep commenting on dofollow blogs and you are sure to increase your links
Guests posts is kind of tricky because you need to create articles with a certain level of quality and information for it to be published on other blogs but as you said you don't have to "waste" your best thoughts on other blogs.
Oh, and saving money with wp free themes is an other great idea, I don't get it why so many people use "premium themes" when there are thousands of free ones. (and if you know some css+html you can always optimize it and change some little defects you find)

I strongly agree with your take on Guest Posting. A Few days back I thought about starting it, but on a second thought I said to myself, why the hell should I write killer articles for other blogs (no doubt they give me backlinks) rather than posting them in my blog & helping my readers.
I loved this article Rahul. Keep coming with such articles which have a personal touch with limit

Great article Rahul, i support your view on guest posting. Guest post should rather be focused on a few great blogs in your niche, it will allow you to develop more greater relationships with the blog owner and their readers. rather than posting on all blogs.
Thanks for the post
i think u will get better traffic if u publish daily than publishing once in a week or twice…
I totally agree with all your 5 points!
And I say that because I have also read and gotten advice like the ones you describe in your post. But I didn't feel quite comfortable with changing my blog simply because it could possibly attract more traffic.
I strongly believe in being true to yourself. Which for me means sharing what I like on my blog, and not whatever fits a certain niche.
Thank you for writing this
Take care,
Alexandra

Firstly, I liked the name of your blog. Secondly, this article is interesting. I appreciate "Be Yourself" point of yours. Thanks for writing all this. Good work.

Very true statement about the Advertisement…If you got good quality stuffs which people are looking for then you will get the readers…No need to buy them

I totally disagree with Niche blogging. I think you don't know about niche blogging much. Although I am not an expert, but I have just started niche blogging this year and I am atleast making $200 from CJ & Shareasale combined. Niche Blogging is really for those who want to make huge money But since it is not free as our regular blogging because of premium tools, domain & hosting charges and other factors, very few goes with this plan. and much more.. you will learn and get the answer yourself once you will start learning this
BTW, Good Post. Keep it up

The name you chose for your blog is awesome man. I was attracted to here because of your blog name!!. Great!!
Every person or every blogger has something that will work for them. What works for one person may not work for another. The best thing is to find out what works best for you as a blogger and maximize on it. Advertising yourself is not the best thing to do. I think if you are good in whatever area you are blogging about then people will look for you and not vice versa.
thanks rahul…
5 point is good & now i follow this.
